SYNOPSIS
Katja is tired of getting her schizophrenic brother out of serious trouble. But Lukas unwaveringly follows his self-destructive way of living. He is obsessed with the thought that the whole world is against him.
Hans Weingartner
Hans Weingartner was born in 1977 in Feldkirch / Vorarlberg (Austria). After school he began to study Neurosciences in Vienna and Berlin. Additionally he later did a qualification for camera assistant at the Austrian Association of Cinematography. He graduated in both studies. After that, Weingartner began to study Film and Television at the “Academy of Media Arts” in Cologne, with a scholarship from the state for the very highly talented. His first film “Das weisse Rauschen” got enthusiastic reviews and won dozens of awards. In 2004 his film “Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei” (“The Edukators”) was shown in the official competition of the filmfestival in Cannes. The film was shown in more than 50 countries, became the cult movie of a new political generation and one of the most successful german movies of the decade. With “Reclaim your Brain” he created a biting satire about brainwash television. In 2012 he returned to his key subjects with “Hut in the Woods”: mental illness and the fight for freedom in an oppressive society.
